Dr. Dennis Smith is a residency-trained, board-certified Emergency Physician with decades of experience serving in the medical field in varied capacities. He joined Pegasus Emergency Group in 2010 and currently serves as Medical Director at Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly, Missouri.
Dr. Smith is certified as a Diplomat by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a member and Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He earned his medical degree with honors at the University of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, IA and completed his internship and residency at Darnall Army Hospital in Ft. Hood, TX.
Upon completion of training at Darnall, a cutting edge, nationally recognized training facility, Dr. Smith remained at Ft. Hood and trained Emergency Medicine Residents as well as Family Practice Residents. Dr. Smith was awarded "Mentor of the Year". During his time at Ft. Hood, Dr. Smith was deployed to Bosnia where he served as Emergency Medical Director for the 21st Combat Support Hospital in Tuzla.
After his military service and just prior to joining Pegasus, Dr. Smith served as Associate Medical Director and EMS Medical Director for a busy Level III Trauma Center in Marinette, WI. He was a member of the trauma committee, which earned trauma center accreditation in the state.
