Dr. Diop is a graduate of Brown University School of Medicine where he combined a doctor of Medicine and a Master of Medical Science in Biochemical pharmacology. Dr. Diop went on to earn a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard University School of Public Health.
Dr. Diop completed a full residency in Internal Medicine and in Emergency Medicine and is board certified in both specialties. Dr. Diop was an Attending Physician at the Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard. Dr. Diop then became an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Massachusetts-Memorial Medical center, where he was also the Director of Medical education, the Director of Quality Assurance and the Director of the Masters Degree Program.
Until Recently Dr. Diop was the Associate Director of the Emergency Department at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois. He was the Hospital-wide Chairman of the Clinical Oversight Committee and was responsible for the development and implementation of the clinical protocols and pathways.
Dr. Diop served as the Public Health Physician for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) where he was responsible for the development and implementation of very important and large health care projects ranging from infectious diseases to child survival projects.
Dr. Diop is a Public Health Expert for the ST Louis Area Regional Response System (STARRS) ,Public Health Committee Surveillance Working Group.
Dr. Diop is a member of the Society of Chest Pain Accreditation Committee . Dr. Diop is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Dr Diop is an expert on the 21 century Point of Care /bedside testing and how it can lead to the development and implementation of highly integrated process, as well as process optimization for a better, more effective, and more efficient patient care resulting in better clinical outcomes in the Emergency Department.
Dr. Diop now has joined the Gadsden Regional Medical Center as the Chairman and the Medical Director of the Emergency Department.
