Dr. Jason Begue is a residency-trained, board certified Emergency Physician. He served as Medical Director at Shelby Baptist Center from August 2010 to January 2012, after working with Pegasus as Medical Director for the Coosa Valley Medical Center Emergency department in Sylacauga, Alabama. He is currently Medical Director at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Begue is certified as a Diplomate by the American Board of Emergency Physicians and is member and Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Upon completion of his training, he joined the faculty of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Departments of Emergency Medicine and Anesthesiology, performing clinical and educational duties in the Emergency Department and Surgical Intensive Care Unit. While on faculty at UAB, Dr. Begue was a leader in developing patient safety initiatives including the hospital medical emergency team and the UAB Medical Simulation Center.
He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ and fellowship in Critical Care at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Begue earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Mississippi.
