Rich Murray
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Murray joined the Pegasus executive team in 2009, bringing over 20 years of experience as a successful entrepreneur in Emergency Department Management, EDIS, IT consulting, methodology, and vendor development. As COO, he is responsible for establishing and managing sales, project management and delivery, strategic vendor relationships and the creation of successful business plans and partnerships with Pegasus client hospitals. Through these partnership efforts, Mr. Murray brings the hospital administrative team together with the Pegasus clinical leadership, creating a business plan to deliver on the promise of best-practices for operational efficiency and throughput, risk-management, regulatory compliance and exceptional fiscal performance for each facility.
Before joining Pegasus, Mr. Murray served as COO and CFO with EmpowER Systems for 7 years. EmpowER is a boutique emergency medicine software company with annual ED visits well in excess of 2,000,000 patients. EmpowER software was ranked #2 in KLAS, was recognized by The Joint Commission as "An Official JCAHO Role Model & Success Story", and has the distinction of being the only EDIS with 100% physician and nursing adoption rates. In addition to managing operations, finance, and sales, Mr. Murray spearheaded the business development programs that created "win-win" partnerships between EmpowER and their client hospitals.
Prior to EmpowER Systems, Mr. Murray was one of the founding partners responsible for the start-up of West Monroe Partners in Chicago, a national full-service provider of business and IT solutions. As well Mr. Murray spent 7 years with the national IT consulting firm Technium, where he was the founding Partner and manager of strategic relationships. In this capacity, he helped to establish Technium as a pre-eminent Microsoft Gold Partner and Sun Microsystems Business Partner. As well, Mr. Murray has extensive experience as an executive business development consultant, having helped many software vendors launch their enterprise solutions and national client partnership efforts.
Rich is a graduate of the University of Illinois-Champaign/Urbana, with an M.S. in Labor & Industrial Relations, and a B.S. in Psychology.
